Charm, character, space, quality, luxury, sustainability and freedom. This converted Saxon farmhouse has it all. And that too in Zwiggelte, one of the most charming lively farm villages in Drenthe. In the village, but with plenty of privacy and unobstructed views.
The farmhouse, originally built in 1892, was completely restored from 2000 to 2002 in consultation with monument conservation. This has resulted in a tasteful spacious house, in which clearly no savings have been made on material costs. The attic over the entire house is ready for further use. Until now, this space was not needed, but can be so arranged.
The garden has been carefully landscaped and excellently maintained. We find a dobbe, an ornamental garden, a vegetable garden several seating areas and a beautiful orchard. Possibility of covered heated outdoor seating, but also in full sun or shade under the old trees. A greenhouse is present a barn serving as wood storage and outdoor storage and finally a barn with space under the open roof for beehives in connection with the orchard.
The living area of the farmhouse, the entire first floor, is equipped with underfloor heating.
The front house houses a luxurious country kitchen, separated from the dining room by a wood-burning stove visible on both sides. This features stained bedstead walls that are used as closets and also provide access to the new standing-height basement.
On the other side of the front house we find the upstairs room above the no longer used old cellar, se living room overlooking the garden on the one hand and the wood stove when it is cold and dark outside on the other.
The central hall , with a view up to the ridge of the house, leads through a gallery to the rear bay. Meanwhile at the gallery we find the master bedroom with bathroom and utility room, as well as the two guest rooms with shared bathroom. The loft gives additional space and light to the gallery.
The floor, accessible from the central hall, features a generous landing and attics over the front and back house. These attics are currently hardly used, but offer a sea of space for larger families to create living spaces.
The former sheepfold ( with insulated floor and walls, over 200m² and with an attic of about 110m²) is accessible from the utility room and of course from outside. It is divided into a workshop and a garage, which can easily accommodate four cars, while a camper or caravan can also be accommodated here.
The attic can be accessed through large hatches and is quite usable.
The farmhouse is a national monument, registered under no. 47007. This can lead to tax and financial advantages in paying for maintenance (preservation).
The farm will be available for delivery in the autumn, however not before the sellers' building project has come to a conclusion.
The beautiful farm village Zwiggelte is located between Westerbork and Hooghalen. Assen is one car quarter away. Westerbork with all its amenities and restaurants 3 km away makes the location of the village comfortable.
